Covid-19 CommunicationsCOVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE
February 19, 2021
The good news is that COVID-19 vaccinations have started. The bad news is that the vaccine supply is extremely limited and delayed in arrival due to the severe storms currently taking place in the United States.
Most counties in which we operate have opened up the vaccinations to those 75 or older, while others are also vaccinating those 65 or older. We have contacted employees in these age groups regarding the opportunity to get the vaccine. Many accepted the invitation, registered themselves and got the vaccine, feeling only a sore arm the next day following the first dose.
As for appointments obtained through the Company, those have been limited to employees 65 and older in Yuma, Arizona (vaccinations took place this week) and in Monterey, California (vaccinations will take place next week). San Benito County is now setting vaccination appointments for employees in the food and agriculture sector (regardless of age) starting next week. We have 55 employees registered to get their vaccines in San Benito next week, with more appointments opening up the week after. Again, the vaccine supply is limited.
Monterey County has announced that it will be opening up vaccinations for the food and agriculture sector by March 3, 2021, within two weeks. It is still unknown if Tanimura & Antle will be a distribution site for any of our locations. We will advise if this occurs on our website and, where able, with mailings or calls.
For now, we ask all employees interested in getting the vaccine to register their interest in the county in which they work and or live noting Tanimura & Antle as the employer. See the chart below for the pertinent information in your county.
Thank you for your continued commitment to keep working during the pandemic to feed our nation.
